"The Project of Installation of Gas System in the Istrian Region" is designed so that the Istrian Region should become a single gas distribution area with the objective of enabling the indiscriminate gas use for every potential user in the area (avoiding the discrimination of future gas users based on their residence). This also means that the life span of the project will last until the moment each potential user in the Istrian Region is offered a chance of using gas both from the network and through inbuilt gas tanks. Plans and deadlines for the construction of the system have been scheduled and elaborated for this purpose, and the project itself is divided in two phases.
The first phase of the project includes the towns of Buje, Buzet, Labin, Novigrad, Pazin, Rovinj, Poreč, Pula, and Umag, and the municipality of Vrsar. These towns accepted the Project by signing the Agreement following the decision of the town's representative bodies. The choice of locations included in the first phase was made on the basis of economic indicators of project feasibility, with the additional condition of good coverage of the entire area of the Region, which is the precondition for the second phase of the project.
The second phase includes spreading out the gas pipeline network constructed in the first phase, first to less and then to more distant places of the Region. Propane-butane gas tanks will be available to users in areas where the construction of the network and the supply from the system will not be justified.
