Special Account of the Regional Government: "Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Agritourism in Istria" (in the continuation of the text: FUND) was constituted by the Decision on the Establishment adopted by the Assembly of the Istrian Region on 24 March 1995 (the Official Bulletin of the Istrian Region no. 4/95) with the primary purpose of accumulating advantageous financial means for the needs of long term financing (crediting) agrarian issues as a strategic branch of economy of the Istrian Region and the Republic of Croatia.  

The purpose of its establishment was the creation of an effective system for providing and offering financial help to the agriculture of the Istrian Region for reasons of stopping negative trends in all segments of primary agricultural production, and putting all available resources into function of food production, especially the agricultural land.  

From 01 January 1995 to 31 December 2003, the FUND managed a total of 34.614.789,13 kuna through 528 Loan Contracts in the area of the Istrian Region.
